In the wake of the inexplicable purge, only a handful of young misfits remains. When it all went down, "Wizard of Odd" Dev Brinkman was seeking shelter from the taunts of his classmates. Goth girl Lucy Abernathy had lost her best friend and had no clue where to turn. And Twinkie-loving quarterback "Marcus" Haddad was learning why you never discuss politics and religion in polite company--or online. As if life when you're sixteen isn't confusing enough, throw in the challenges of postapocalyptic subsistence, a case of survivor's guilt turned up to seven billion, and the small task of rebuilding humankind... No one said doomsday would be a breeze. But for Dev, Lucy, and Marcus, the greatest hope--and greatest threat--will come when they find each other.

Uncanny Networks Book Summary : Geert Lovink interviews an international group of artists, critics, and theorists on aesthetic, cultural, and political aspects of new media. For Geert Lovink, interviews are imaginative texts that can help to create global, networked discourses not only among different professions but also among different cultures and social groups. Conducting interviews online, over a period of weeks or months, allows the participants to compose documents of depth and breadth, rather than simply snapshots of timely references. The interviews collected in this book are with artists, critics, and theorists who are intimately involved in building the content, interfaces, and architectures of new media. The topics discussed include digital aesthetics, sound art, navigating deep audio space, European media philosophy, the Internet in Eastern Europe, the mixing of old and new in India, critical media studies in the Asia-Pacific region, Japanese techno tribes, hybrid identities, the storage of social movements, theory of the virtual class, virtual and urban spaces, corporate takeover of the Internet, and the role of cyberspace in the rise of nongovernmental organizations. Brain Arrest or Doomsday Countdown
Author: Leonard Wittine
Publisher: Paragon Publishing
Release Date:
ISBN 10: 1782222642
Pages: 348 pages

Brain Arrest or Doomsday Countdown Book Summary : It is inevitable that humankind will become extinct. Nowadays, the advance of technology has overtaken the human capacity to control the possible consequences of any kind of progress. Extinction is always multifactorial. Double-faced Janus Meerkater, a reborn Neanderthal and leading nanotechnologist, has created EMULATOR, an unexcelled thinking machine and technological singularity. Thus Murphy’s law and the Dürrenmatt principle are put in motion. Leo Lobeck the Trojan, Jason Stardust and Xixi Bruneau are fighting the technocalypse. Brain emulation in combination with wormhole physics could create an escape route for mankind. That way reality is broken and reveals itself as an illusion in the empirical dimensions of human experience. The world events turn out to be pure satire. In the end all human minds will be uploaded to EMULATOR and Friedrich Nietzsche, the great but unfortunately insane philosopher, will be God. “Perhaps we are all part of an experiment. Maybe to be human is just a test of what animate creatures would do given by nature limited intelligence and maximum ignorance.”

ISBN 10: 1460315901
Pages: 320 pages

Clockwork Doomsday Book Summary : A key. An ancient automaton. A race against the devil to the deep blue sea… It started in 48 B.C. when a centurion on a rescue mission for Caesar went down with the ship in a storm. With his last breath, he saw the object of Caesar's seafaring excursion—an accursed, mechanical minotaur—hit bottom…and start to walk away! While taping an episode of Chasing History's Monsters, TV host and archaeologist Annja Creed learns that her sometime friend and protector Garin has acquired an ancient butterfly key artifact, the kind once used to wind automatons, clockwork-style devices. Except, this key comes with a rumor attached, a story that it once worked a god-touched device both rare and unbelievably powerful. No sooner does Garin hold the key than it's snatched from his hands by a freewheeling historian who plays by her own rules. And she wants ultimate power, which could happily include the sword of Joan of Arc. The quest for the key and the mythological automaton reunites Annja, Garin and his old mentor Roux in Genoa, and pits them in a race across Europe to beat a foe as resourceful and skilled as Annja herself.

Doomsday Bunker Book
Author: Ben Jakob
Publisher: The Pro Doodler
Release Date: 2014-11-01
ISBN 10: 0990589137
Pages: 304 pages

Doomsday Bunker Book Book Summary : We all have heard of people talking, pontificating and preaching about a doomsday, or have watched the TV show Doomsday Preppers. We have heard people called "Preppers", or "What Iffers". People have been talking about some sort of "End of the World" scenario, for decades. Even the United States government has many bunkers around the country, some of which have been purchased by ordinary citizens (preppers). Some of us are concerned something may happen sooner rather than later. I have heard more and more people talking about the possibility of an imminent disaster. Some people worry about different possible scenarios. For example; economic collapse, societal collapse, civil unrest, electromagnetic pulse, weather destruction, war, fire, nuclear attacks, terrorist attacks, fuel shortages, pandemics, geomagnetic reversal, etc. Sixty-one percent of Americans believe some sort of doomsday will happen within the next twenty years. Sixty percent of Americans believe there will be economic collapse within the next fifteen years. Many people are preparing for the scenarios of which they are concerned. It is estimated in the United States of America, approximately ten percent of the population are preppers to one degree or another. No one knows if or when, one or more calamities will occur. There is no way to predict a specific occurrence or time factor, and my crystal ball broke, so I cannot help with your prognostication. The best we can do is to prepare for any eventuality. This is why I personally (and many others) believe a concrete bunker is the best idea. Some people are planning for an aboveground bunker and some are interested in an underground bunker. In this book, we are going to be discussing both in great detail. As I will explain, this type of bunker will give you the best protection possible for the most scenarios. One need not be a conspiracy theorist to be apprehensive. People may think "Doomsday preppers", or "What ifers", as we are often called, are "Nut jobs." However, when TSHTF, we will be the ones who others will come to, since we will be the ones who are prepared.
