This book analyses the conceptualization of psychopathic personality disorder for criminal/forensic populations and examines in depth the emerging phenomenon of the ‘corporate psychopath’. There has been a growing interest among scholars in the fields of organizational behaviour and industrial psychology in what can be termed "the dark side of the organizations." A main concept in this regard this is both important and relevant counterproductive work behaviours (CWBs), which can be defined as deliberate actions that harm the organization or its members. These behaviours include a variety of acts that can be directed toward organizations (CWB-O) or toward other people (CWB-P). Destroying organizational property, purposely doing work incorrectly, and taking unauthorized work breaks are examples of CWB-O, whereas hitting a co-worker, insulting others, and shouting at someone are forms of CWB-P. Despite the growing interest in CWBs as a research issue, not enough is known about the determinants of CWBs. Dark personality traits, and traits with dark features, are connected to destructive behaviors and interpersonal problems. Even moderate levels of these traits can cause significant issues. Understanding them will play an integral role in treating individuals who exhibit dark, unhealthy characteristics. In this study, I attempted to determine if the three facets of the Dark Triad (Psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and Narcissism) moderate the relationship between specific Stressors (Composite Organizational Justice, Person-Organization Value Fit, Overqualification) and Counterproductive Work Behaviors (CWB). Previous research has shown that there is a positive relationship between stressors and counterproductive work behaviors, as well as a positive relationship between Dark Triad facets and counterproductive work behaviors. Research has also shown a consistent trend of other moderating influences on the relationship between stressors and CWB. However, despite clear conceptual links between the Dark Triad, CWB, and Stressors, little research has been done to show the potential of the Dark Triad facets potentially adding moderating relationship. A sample of several hundred participants working full time was collected and given an online survey consisting of several measures. The relationship between Dark Triad, Stressors, and specific CWB was evaluated using moderated multiple regression analysis. Partial support was found for the moderating relationship, suggesting opportunities for further research, specifically into the relationship between the Dark Triad and Perceived Organizational Justice as a stressor.
