Breast augmentation has been the most frequently performed surgery in the United States for a number of years, and it is also one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries internationally. When taking into account reconstruction after disease, this is an area of immense relevance to all plastic surgeons. This high-profile area can also have important implications for a patient's self-image and self-esteem. Management of both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of the breast involves a myriad of options. Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery assists the plastic surgeon in navigating this unique terrain. Each chapter analyzes specific clinical issues that are frequently encountered in the plastic surgeon's practice, with the goal of providing clear and contemporary information detailing available aesthetic and reconstructive alternatives for surgery involving the breasts. Key topics in the book include: Preoperative considerations Congenital breast anomalies Reconstruction as part of cancer treatment Breast reduction Secondary procedures Long-term results Male breast surgery Office procedural issues, such as billing and coding

The authors are acknowledged experts in their fields who draw on a wealth of experience in describing and illustrating their personally favored techniques. Aesthetic Surgery of the Breast will be an ideal reference for both students (residents and fellows) and practicing cosmetic, plastic, and general surgeons.
Featuring more than 1,100 full-color and black-and-white illustrations, this volume demonstrates and explains the problems encountered after reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery and breast cancer reconstruction and the most successful methods for correcting these problems. Each chapter begins with a pictorial analysis of the problem, a discussion of what caused it, and, where possible, suggestions on how it might have been avoided initially. The author then describes the plan for revision surgery, details the actual procedure, and examines postoperative outcomes.
Filled with take-away messages and valuable insights, Aesthetic Breast Surgery by Elizabeth Hall-Findlay, MD, is a masterful text that you will refer to time and again. It presents a personal and time-proven approach to all forms of aesthetic breast surgery. This book is a distillation of the author's extensive experience and provides her unique perspective on problem-solving and patient analysis. Dr. Hall-Findlay has spent years measuring and studying patient results to help other surgeons use "science" to improve the "art" of aesthetic breast surgery. She has developed an approach to analysis and surgery which is simple and consistent-with results that can be achieved by all surgeons. Prepare Yourself for a Master Class in Aesthetic Breast Surgery With personal insights and wisdom pervading every page, this book provides the reader with a master class in aesthetic breast surgery by one of the world's leading experts. Dr. Hall-Findlay is widely known for her popularization of the medial pedicle approach to vertical breast reduction and this is covered in depth. However, her accomplishments in breast surgery extend far beyond this technique. Her ongoing innovations continue to advance the field. In this semi-atlas work, she brings her considerable expertise to bear on the range of aesthetic breast surgery procedures as she describes her individual approach to patient evaluation, operative planning, clinical decision-making, and operative technique. Comprehensive Coverage Divided into nine comprehensive chapters, the book begins with key chapters on analysis, concepts, applied anatomy, and patient selection that lay the foundation for the technical descriptions that follow. These introductory chapters are not to be missed. They offer a unique approach to patient assessment and alert the reader to critical anatomic landmarks that strongly influence the success of operative procedures. Concepts such as the breast footprint (high-breasted and low-breasted patients) are examined to help readers understand the realistic possibilities for what can and cannot be achieved when planning breast surgery. The emphasis is on the decision-making process involved in choosing the right approach for each patient and then planning the procedure with these landmarks in mind. The next seven chapters are devoted to operative technique. A consistent format is used in each chapter with detailed information on patient evaluation, planning, technique, revisions, complications, and outcomes. These pages are liberally illustrated with step-by-step descriptions depicting breast augmentation, vertical breast reduction with the medial pedicle, liposuction-only breast reduction, mastopexy, mastopexy/augmentation, and surgery for breast asymmetries. Information on avoidance and treatment of problems and complications is also highlighted throughout the book. Of particular note is the comprehensive information on nipple necrosis in the reduction chapter; this provides essential information to help surgeons who are faced with decreased blood supply to the nipple. Beautifully Illustrated Beautiful and dramatic color illustrations and numerous preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative images help the reader visualize the steps of each procedure and appreciate the excellent long-term results that can be achieved. Unique Features Throughout the technique chapters, artwork icons are paired with photographic images to better elucidate the surgical technique being described. Key points are highlighted, and a summary box outlining central issues concludes each chapter. Two DVDs contain operative video to complement the text.

The thorax has a fundamental role in the aesthetic of the male body: congenital or acquired alterations are experienced as extremely frustrating clinical situations. Most breast surgery texts briefly mention gynecomastia, but no text comprehensively addresses the male breast and thorax, including reconstructive and cosmetic surgery and surgery in transgender patients. This gap is now thoroughly filled by Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery of the Male Breast: after introducing principles of anatomy and aesthetics for the male thorax, the first part focusses on the main congenital malformations and their treatment; the main benign acquired pathologies and their treatment (including an ample section dedicated to gynecomastia), the carcinoma of the male breast, with reference to familiar forms; the treatment of carcinoma and reconstruction of the thorax. The book closes with a chapter dedicated to breast surgery in transgender patients. While female breast surgery is increasingly practiced in specific Breast Units and highly specialized centers, male breast issues are treated in general and plastic surgeries units. This handy volume is a sound reference for the most complex clinical cases, and the latest reconstruction treatments for the male thorax and will be useful for general and thoracic surgeons, plastic surgeons and senologists.
This two-video set demonstrates the use of the carbon dioxide laser for upper and lower lid blepharoplasty and facial skin resurfacing. The authors present a step-by-step approach to the surgeries from marking the patient to applying the dressings, with discussion of critical safety requirements, proper technique and possible complications.
