A Very Stable Genius

Pages: 480 pages

A Very Stable Genius Book Summary : The instant #1 bestseller. “This taut and terrifying book is among the most closely observed accounts of Donald J. Trump’s shambolic tenure in office to date." - Dwight Garner, The New York Times Washington Post national investigative reporter Carol Leonnig and White House bureau chief Philip Rucker, both Pulitzer Prize winners, provide the definitive insider narrative of Donald Trump's unique presidency with shocking new reporting and insight into its implications. “I alone can fix it.” So went Donald J. Trump’s march to the presidency on July 21, 2016, when he accepted the Republican presidential nomination in Cleveland, promising to restore what he described as a fallen nation. Yet over the subsequent years, as he has undertaken the actual work of the commander in chief, it has been hard to see beyond the daily chaos of scandal, investigation, and constant bluster. It would be all too easy to mistake Trump’s first term for one of pure and uninhibited chaos, but there were patterns to his behavior and that of his associates. The universal value of the Trump administration is loyalty - not to the country, but to the president himself - and Trump’s North Star has been the perpetuation of his own power, even when it meant imperiling our shaky and mistrustful democracy. Leonnig and Rucker, with deep and unmatched sources throughout Washington, D.C., tell of rages and frenzies but also moments of courage and perseverance. Relying on scores of exclusive new interviews with some of the most senior members of the Trump administration and other firsthand witnesses, the authors reveal the forty-fifth president up close, taking readers inside Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation as well as the president’s own haphazard but ultimately successful legal defense. Here for the first time certain officials who have felt honor-bound not to publicly criticize a sitting president or to divulge what they witnessed in a position of trust tell the truth for the benefit of history. This peerless and gripping narrative reveals President Trump at his most unvarnished and exposes how decision making in his administration has been driven by a reflexive logic of self-preservation and self-aggrandizement - but a logic nonetheless. This is the story of how an unparalleled president has scrambled to survive and tested the strength of America’s democracy and its common heart as a nation.

People said what's with the light bulb. I said here's the story, and I looked at it. The bulb that we're being forced to use. Number one, to me, most importantly, the light's no good. Free Melania
Author: Kate Bennett
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Release Date: 2019-12-03
ISBN 10: 1250307384
Pages: 320 pages

Free Melania Book Summary : The first behind-the-scenes look at the life of the most enigmatic First Lady in U.S. history Melania Trump is an enigma. Regardless of your political leanings, she is fascinating—a First Lady who, in many ways, is the most modern and groundbreaking in recent history. A former model whose beauty in person leaves people breathless, a woman whose upbringing in a communist country spurred a relentless drive for stability, both for herself and for her family. A reluctant pillar in a controversial presidential administration who speaks five languages and runs the East Wing like none of her predecessors ever could—underestimate her at your own peril (as a former government official did and was summarily fired). But who is she really? In Free, Melania we get an insider's look at Melania Trump, from her childhood in Slovenia to her days in the White House, and everything in between. We see the Trump family dynamics that Melania has had to navigate, including her strained relationship with Ivanka. We get a rare glimpse into what goes into her famous and sometimes infamous clothing choices (including perhaps the real message behind Melania’s controversial jacket, “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?”, which she wore while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border), and how a publicly quiet Melania actually speaks very loudly—if you just know where, and how, to listen. And we get a behind-the-scenes look at her often eyebrow-raising relationship with Donald Trump, from their beginnings to becoming the most unusual First Family in modern history. Looking at Melania in the pantheon of historic First Ladies, Kate Bennett shows just how different Melania Trump is and why she matters. Bennett, an expert on First Ladies, has unparalleled access to Melania’s very small and loyal inner circle. As she shows in this page-turning book, the seemingly most reluctant First Lady is, in many ways, the most compelling and complex First Lady, ever.

Everything Trump Touches Dies
Author: Rick Wilson
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Release Date: 2018-08-07
ISBN 10: 1982103159
Pages: 336 pages

Everything Trump Touches Dies Book Summary : #1 New York Times bestseller! A respected, long-time Republican strategist, ad-maker, and contributor for The Daily Beast skewers the disease that is destroying the conservative movement and burning down the GOP: Trumpism. Includes an all-new chapter analyzing Trump’s impact on the 2018 elections. In the #1 New York Times bestselling Everything Trump Touches Dies, political campaign strategist and commentator Rick Wilson delivers “a searingly honest, bitingly funny, comprehensive answer to the question we find ourselves asking most mornings: ‘What the hell is going on?’ (Chicago Tribune). The Guardian hails Everything Trump Touches Dies, saying it gives, “more unvarnished truths about Donald Trump than anyone else in the American political establishment has offered. Wilson never holds back.” Rick mercilessly exposes the damage Trump has done to the country, to the Republican Party, and to the conservative movement that has abandoned its principles for the worst President in American history. Wilson unblinkingly dismantles Trump’s deceptions and the illusions to which his supporters cling, shedding light on the guilty parties who empower and enable Trump in Washington and in the media. He calls out the race-war dead-enders who hitched a ride with Trump, the alt-right basement dwellers who worship him, and the social conservatives who looked the other way. Publishers Weekly calls it, “a scathing, profane, unflinching, and laugh-out-loud funny rebuke of Donald Trump and his presidency.” No left-winger, Wilson is a lifelong conservative who delivers his withering critique of Trump from the right. A leader of the Never Trump movement, he warned from the start that Trump would destroy the lives and reputations of everyone in his orbit, and Everything Trump Touches Dies is a deft chronicle the tragicomic political story of our time. From the early campaign days through the shock of election night, to the inconceivable train-wreck of Trump’s first year. Rick Wilson provides not only an insightful analysis of the Trump administration, but also an optimistic path forward for the GOP, the conservative movement, and the country. “Hilarious, smartly written, and usually spot-on” (Kirkus Reviews), Everything Trump Touches Dies is perfect for those on either side of the aisle who need a dose of unvarnished reality, a good laugh, a strong cocktail, and a return to sanity in American politics.

Ode to a Very Stable Genius A Quatrain Compendium with Pictures
Author: Carl Powlett
Publisher: N.A
Release Date: 2020-08-30
ISBN 10: 9780578737140
Pages: 118 pages

Ode to a Very Stable Genius A Quatrain Compendium with Pictures Book Summary : If I were Donald Trump, I would describe "Ode to a Very Stable Genius" as a book composed of more than five hundred perfectly executed quatrains and innumerable, beautiful, incredible pictures. In fact, many people are saying, there may be more than one thousand. Both assertions would be easily verifiable lies. "Ode to a Very Stable Genius" is a compendium of four hundred and four quatrains, sardonically portraying the life and times of Donald J. Trump. It is not a narrative chronology, but a compilation of stanzas wherein each could stand alone. The book includes a baker's dozen's worth of original, legend-potential illustrations, spaced throughout on separate pages. A preface and introduction supplement the front matter, detailing the genesis and construction of the work, along with some biting editorial content. The body text begins with a seven-stanza prologue and ends similarly, with a seven-stanza epilogue. The core contains sixty-five roman numeral headed six-stanza pages. This is a unique work. These quatrains touch upon practically every aspect of the life and times of our accidental President - past, present, hoped for and imagined. Most are expressed in the voice of his supporters. The ode, a type of poem which expresses adoration, worship, adulation, has an abundance of the kind of superlatives that would leave our POTUS with a permanent Mona Lisa smile. However, the denouement of each stanza, invariably belie the approbation of the "A" verse; they are poetic chameleons. If these should be read to him, (One gets the feeling he may have avoided the remedial ELA at Wharton), his reaction is likely to be more Munch than Leonardo. With this literary effort, my hope is, readers will find lines, phrases, segments, that will lead to further exploration, knowledge, and understanding. Maybe, even, clarity. It's the kind of book a reader (non-regular readers, too) can pick up at any time. It could be a fine substitute for the TV remote. It doesn't need batteries and isn't likely to get lost between the seat cushions. Appreciating most of the verses require only a passing knowledge of current events. There are a few esoteric entries for news junkies and worse (or, better) - historians. Also, some which may, not unreasonably, be labeled as "puzzling" (à la the one that includes the spices, parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme). I have taken a leap of faith, that readers of this book are a curious bunch (Loads of bunches?), who will take the time to consider the possible "puzzlement" (Privy Pantheon?) within the context of each verse, stanza, and its relationship to the subject.

Donald John Trump
Author: John Klotsche
Publisher: Gatekeeper Press
Release Date: 2019-11-07
ISBN 10: 1642374911
Pages: 329 pages

Donald John Trump Book Summary : This book contains 245 political satire memes, all about President Trump and his presidency. It is 12 chapters, each with a brief introductory narrative about the chapter’s subject matter. The topics are broad in scope involving personal, family, but mainly topical domestic and international political issues. It is original work product and I believe, politically speaking, rather timely. It is a rare day when Donald Trump doesn’t dash off an utterance or executive order provoking needless nervousness in the financial markets or rapid ruckus in the domestic or international political theater; not to mention angst or anger with a slice of voters. Most of this hubbub is unrehearsed, unnecessary and often countermanded or modified, usually quietly or nuanced. Trump’s presidency has not only been unpredictable and chaotic, but also occasionally dangerous. The 245 political satire memes in my work are meant to both entertain and inform. The entertainment ones take serious liberties with the facts and feature a lighthearted side of this presidency. The informative align more closely with reality and are designed to demonstrate that the stakes are enormous for the business of the presidency between now and November 3, 2020, the consequential election date. In short, the work strives to elicit both smiles and encourage critical thought.

Trump and His Generals
Author: Peter Bergen
Publisher: Penguin
Release Date: 2019-12-10
ISBN 10: 0525522425
Pages: 400 pages

Trump and His Generals Book Summary : From one of America's preeminent national security journalists, an explosive, news-breaking account of Donald Trump's collision with the American national security establishment, and with the world It is a simple fact that no president in American history brought less foreign policy experience to the White House than Donald J. Trump. The real estate developer from Queens promised to bring his brash, zero-sum swagger to bear to cut through America's most complex national security issues, and he did. If the cost of his "America First" agenda was bulldozing the edifice of foreign alliances that had been carefully tended by every president from Truman to Obama, then so be it. It was clear from the first that Trump's inclinations were radically more blunt force than his predecessors'. When briefed by the Pentagon on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, he exclaimed, "The next time Iran sends its boats into the Strait: blow them out of the water! Let's get Mad Dog on this." When told that the capital of South Korea, Seoul, was so close to the North Korean border that millions of people would likely die in the first hours of any all-out war, Trump had a bold response, "They have to move." The officials in the Oval Office weren't sure if he was joking. He raised his voice. "They have to move!" Very quickly, it became clear to a number of people at the highest levels of government that their gravest mission was to protect America from Donald Trump. Trump and His Generals is Peter Bergen's riveting account of what happened when the unstoppable force of President Trump met the immovable object of America's national security establishment--the CIA, the State Department, and, above all, the Pentagon. If there is a real "deep state" in DC, it is not the FBI so much as the national security community, with its deep-rooted culture and hierarchy. The men Trump selected for his key national security positions, Jim Mattis, John Kelly, and H. R. McMaster, were products of that culture: Trump wanted generals, and he got them. Three years later, they would be gone, and the guardrails were off. From Iraq and Afghanistan to Syria and Iran, from Russia and China to North Korea and Islamist terrorism, Trump and His Generals is a brilliant reckoning with an American ship of state navigating a roiling sea of threats without a well-functioning rudder. Lucid and gripping, it brings urgently needed clarity to issues that affect the fate of us all. But clarity, unfortunately, is not the same thing as reassurance.
